Bhangra Desire International Folk Art Club
The term Bhangra (ਭੰਗੜਾ) refers to the traditional dance originating in the Majha area of the Punjab region free form traditional Bhangra originating in Punjab, India and modern Bhangra developed by the Punjabi diaspora. The origins of traditional Bhangra are speculative. According to I.S. Dhillon, Bhangra is related to the Punjabi dance 'bagaa' which is a martial dance of Punjab. However, the folk dance of Majha originated in Sialkot and took root in Gujranwalla, Sheikhupur, Gujrat (districts in Punjab, Pakistan) and Gurdaspur (district in Punjab, India).The traditional form of Bhangra danced in the villages of Sialkot district is regarded as the standard.Although the main districts where traditional Bhangra is performed are in Punjab, Pakistan, the community form of traditional Bhangra has been maintained in Gurdaspur district, Punjab, India and has been maintained by people who have settled in Hoshiarpur, Punjab India after leaving what is now Punjab, Pakistan. Being a seasonal dance, traditional Bhangra is practiced in the month leading up to the festival of Vaisakhi.
Traditional Bhangra is performed in a circle and is performed using traditional dance steps. The drum is played according to local beats and is accompanied by singing peculiar to Majha which are folk songs called dhola. The following is an example of a dhola.

It strives to preserve the tradition of India's performing arts while providing a positive social and educational environment for young members.We are helping young people navigate the difficult balance between contemporary youth culture and their cultural heritage. This makes the club one of our state's cultural treasure. Established in 2016, the club already has had the privilege of representing Indian culture in various countries across the globe and there's a plenitude of offers and opportunities lined up for group members to visit, represent their own culture and interact with people of diverse cultures and nations in future by participating in international folk festivals in many countries; Russia, Germany, Georgia,Oman,singapore,Jordan,Ukraine,Egypt, Turkey, Malaysia, Thailand, just to name a few.
Bhangra Desire International Folk Art Club is a dance club , Bhangra desire established in september 2012 and registered in 2016, till now approximately 50 members join us ,where the Boys and Girls give Performances of Punjabi Dance Bhangra,Gidha , jaago, Luddi, Lady Sangeet, jhoomer etc. on corporate and family events like opening of Companies, Prize Distribution Functions , fairwel parties, Weddings, Reception Parties, Birthday Parties, Cultural Activities, Fairs, Festivals, Bhangra Desire International Folk Art Club Performs national and internaional.
